Privacy Policy

Chroni & Associates processes personal data to answer enquiries and carry out legal work. Data is held under professional secrecy, shared only where a matter or the law requires it, and retained for the periods set by Greek professional and tax rules.

01

Who we are

This notice explains what we collect through this website and through client work, why we hold it, how long we keep it and the rights available to you under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Greek data protection legislation.

02

What we collect

We collect only what is needed to respond to an enquiry and, where instructed, to carry out legal work.

  • Enquiry details: name, email address, country, the nature of your matter and anything you choose to include in your message.
  • Client matter data: identification and source of funds documents required by anti-money-laundering rules, and the documents relevant to your instruction.
  • Correspondence: emails, letters and notes of calls and meetings.
  • Technical data: limited server log data such as IP address and browser type, used to keep the site secure and available.
  • Checklist requests: your name, email address and (optionally) country when you request our Golden Visa checklist, used to send it to you and to follow up on your interest. If you also tick the updates box, your email address is added to our mailing list for occasional legal updates; you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in each email or by writing to info@chronilaw.com.
  • Visitor statistics: aggregated, anonymous page-view statistics (page, referring site, country, device type and browser) collected with Vercel Web Analytics, without cookies and without identifying you, to understand how the site is used.

03

Why we process it, and on what basis

Enquiries are handled on the basis of steps taken at your request before entering into a contract. Client work is processed to perform the engagement contract.

Identity verification and record keeping are processed to comply with legal obligations, including anti-money-laundering and tax rules. Establishing, exercising or defending legal claims relies on our legitimate interests and, where relevant, on the specific GDPR ground for legal claims.

04

Confidentiality and legal professional privilege

Information you provide in the course of seeking or receiving legal advice is subject to professional secrecy under Greek law and to the rules of the Athens Bar Association. Confidentiality obligations apply whether or not you go on to instruct the firm.

Please do not send highly sensitive material through the website enquiry form. We will agree a secure channel with you once contact is established.

05

Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising. Data is shared only where it is necessary for your matter or required by law.

  • Notaries, surveyors, civil engineers, translators, accountants and tax advisers engaged for your matter.
  • Greek public authorities and registries, including the Cadastre, tax authorities and migration authorities.
  • Our IT, hosting and email providers, acting as processors under written terms.
  • Courts, counterparties' representatives and regulators, where required by law or by your instruction.

06

International transfers

Our infrastructure is located within the European Economic Area wherever possible. Where a provider processes data outside the EEA, the transfer is covered by an adequacy decision or by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

07

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are deleted within twelve months. Client files are retained for the period required by Greek professional, limitation and tax rules, generally at least five years from the conclusion of the matter and longer where the subject matter requires it.

08

Subject to the limits that apply to legal professional confidentiality and to our legal retention duties, you may exercise the rights below by writing to us.

  • Access to the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data.
